Shutter motorisation systems

There are two main options for shutter motorisation. It is important to choose a trusted locksmith company, as the initial advice will help the client make the right decision.

• Switch-operated shutters: This is the most affordable type of shutter motorisation on the market. After fitting the motor to the shutter, the professional locksmith installs a wall button to operate it. The results are impressive and the cost of this technology is very reasonable.
• Remote-controlled shutters: The other option takes advantage of the smart home (domotics) technology available today. All the shutters in the home can then be operated from a single remote control. This option is slightly more expensive, but the convenience of opening and closing every shutter from anywhere in the home is a major selling point.

In both cases, the up-and-down speed of the shutter must be adjusted. Around 17 revolutions per minute is usually the optimum speed for safe and reliable operation.

Before investing in shutter motorisation it is important to request a prior quote from the locksmith company. This avoids surprises in a type of work that genuinely improves our clients' quality of life.

• Maximum insulation: Motorised shutters provide excellent insulation. With manually operated window shutters, air often enters through the strap mechanism. Once the motor is fitted, all the gaps that previously let in air are sealed.
• Low cost: Despite what may seem obvious, shutter motorisation does not require a large investment.
• Cost reduction: In the shutters of commercial premises, manually operating shutters causes far more wear, since they are raised more abruptly and pulled from the end rather than from the axle. This leads to faster deterioration of the shutter and means it needs repair or replacement much sooner.
• Maintenance: Motorised shutters require little maintenance. Today low-consumption motors are the standard choice.
